World Trade Centre Winnipeg to be officially launched at Centrallia 2012

October 11, 2012 – Winnipeg’s new bilingual World Trade Centre (WTC) will be officially launched between Centrallia 2012’s morning and afternoon sessions at the Winnipeg Convention Centre, Thursday, October 11. The announcement will be made by the WTC Winnipeg’s new President and CEO, Mariette Mulaire, and Dave Angus, President and CEO of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, the host organization for the WTC Winnipeg.  Joining them for the announcement will be Eric Dahl, CEO of the World Trade Centers Association, headquartered in New York.

The launch marks the transition of ANIM, Manitoba’s Bilingual Trade Agency – including all of its staff – into the WTC Winnipeg and its expanded mandate of assisting the development of trade relationships throughout the world on behalf of Manitoba businesses. The extensive international trade experience and many relationships that ANIM generated during its 5 years of existence, will be a tremendous asset for the new WTC Winnipeg as it joins the network of 330 world trade centres in 96 countries.

“It is fitting that the launch of the bilingual Trade Centre Winnipeg will be made at Centrallia 2012, as it is precisely this kind of international trade event that demonstrates the value of having a world trade centre here in Winnipeg,” said Mariette Mulaire. “The types of relationships that we see being created here, between small to medium sized companies from all parts of the world, are the same kind of relationships that the WTC Winnipeg will be helping Manitoba companies create going forward.”

Included in the official launch announcement will be the introduction of the WTC Winnipeg’s new board of directors, which represents a strong cross section of Manitoba business sectors. Their names are Raymond Lafond, Chairman, André Granger, Westeel, Bernard Clément, Pembcorp Automotive Group, Jean-Pierre Parenty, Parenty Reitmeier Inc., Jean-Marc Ruest, Richardson International Limited, Alexander Malaket, Opus Advisory Services International Inc., Don Boitson, Magellan Aerospace, Diane Gray, CentrePort Canada Inc., Charlie Spiring, National Bank Financial Wealth Management, Leo Ledohowski, Canad Inns, Fiona Webster-Mourant, Manrex Ltd., Albert El Tassi of Peerless Garments LP.
